EVERYDAY IS A GREEN DAY!!!

We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us.  When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.

Take care of the earth and she will take care of you.

Something fun to keep yougoing on the right track of living a Green Life!!

REMEMBER your role!!! You are not an environmentalist.... YOU ARE AN EARTH WARRIOR

When we heal our Mother Earth, we are healing ourselves!

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children. They need her just as much as we do!

Modern Society will find no solution to the ecological problem unless it takes a serious look at its lifestyles.

Nature provides a free lunch, but only if we

control our appetites.

Sustainable Farming working closing with nature

Taken from newsletter: Think Organic, September 2010

Country Farm Organics has many good local organic suppliers and among the top of the lis is DQ Farm. This organic farm began in the year 2000 when H.S Wong left lucrative corporate world to launch his organic dream on the a 50- acre land situated along the old old Bentong road, some twenty kilometers from  Kuala Lumpur.  Since then, Wong has developed his own model of sustainable farming by following a couple of principles:
1. Working closely with nature harmonizing the land and its living creatures along with the surrounding energy ( Qi).
2. Producing more than it consumes as opposed to conventional farming that consumes more than it produces.
3. Reducing carbon footprint-recycles everything possible and leaves little or no waste at all.

As a keen observer of nature, Wong leverages on nature’s way to run his farm.

Utilizing Natural Enemies of Pest.

Organic farming is known to maintain a greater natural enemy evenness that ultimately controls pest populations in the farm. For example, Wong cultives weaver ant ( kerengga ) to get rid of herbivorous insects and plant pathogen. Even squirrels, monkeys   and birds avoid   fruit trees that are occupied by weaver ants. However, in another zone, Wong maintaining a cluster of fruit trees that is free from weaver ants. Over time, the wild mammals and birds feed only from these trees and thus the loss of marketable organic is reduced by 70 percent.

Medical herb treatments

The farm produces all the medical herbs needed to treat is livestock. Unlike conventional goat farms,  DQ farm never uses antibiotic, dewormer or other artificial  chemical treatments. It uses a type of vine plant known as “Bakawali” or “ Tinospora rumpii” to boost the immune system and so the goats are seldom sick. Within an acrce of land, it able o raise 25 goats as contrasted with the average of 10 goats per acre in conventional farms. The farm also uses Lengkuas or blue ginger to help chickens fight bacteria.

Composting Process

Wong does not purchase any fertilizers but creates his own with the waste from his farm. The exrements and carcasses of the chickens and goat are being composted by utilizing earthworms (Eisenia fetida). The result is microbe and nutrient- rich dark humus, known as “black gold” to farmers. This used to fertilize the organic orchard and grassland in the farm.

Poem about the Mother Earth

This Old Earth

This old earth
Needs our help
To stay fresh and clean and green
With a pick it up; pitch it in; and throw it in the can--
This old earth needs a helping hand!

Everyday is Earth Day

Everyday is Earth Day,
If it's cold or wet or hot
Pitch in to save the planet
It's the only one we've got.

Save The Earth

People everywhere
breathe the same air,
share the same seas,
live together on the land.
People everywhere
who learn, plan,
work, care,
can
save the earth.

Green Life????

Every day is Earth Day

There is enough for all. The earth is a generous mother; she will provide in plentiful abundance food for all her children if they will but cultivate her soil in justice and in peace.

Funny huh?

What we can do???

The important component that leads a life.
